Honoring the first, second, and third homesteaders in Gage County. The first being Daniel Freeman, both first at Brownville, Nebraska and first in the nation. Second in line after Mr. Freeman in Brownville was Samuel Kilpatrick whose son's laid the railroad line from Marysville, KS to Beatrice. Mary Meyer came in after Mr. Kilpatrick in Brownville to become the third homesteader in Gage County and first woman in the nation. All three settled in the Blakely Township. Their descendants will be present at this dinner and program.
Special Guests for the program are Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln. Who in 1862, passed the Homestead Act. Without whom these three would not have settled in Gage County. The Lincoln’s will perform “The story of our lives from when and where we were born all the way to Ford's Theater Good Friday April 14th, 1865."
